President's Message

My name is Yasushi Nakashima, President and CEO of Mitsui Chemicals Europe GmbH.

MCE is one of the four regional headquarters of Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (MCI), which is covering the territory Europe, Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. The year 2011 is the 50 year anniversary since the start of Mitsui's business operations in Europe.

One of MCE's key functions is the sales, marketing and manufacturing of MCI group products, such as Elastomers, PO Compounds (PP compounds, Admer), Agrochemicals, Solar Power Components and Highly Refractive Optical Lenses (MR Series) based on sophisticated technologies of the MCI Group.

Other key roles of MCE are gathering of information on new technologies, new business models or de facto standards and new approaches to environmental issues including regulations in European region, and providing the information to the entire MCI Group which employs around 13.000 employees globally. We are aware that the chemical industry has a large impact on the environment. Because of this awareness we are focusing on initiatives that leverage our strengths as a chemical company to reduce environmental impact through our products and services. In this context, we are for example, commercializing next-generation products in the field of solar and wind power generation, as two vital sources of renewable energy. In addition, Mitsui Chemicals is, for example, engaged in lithium-ion battery materials developments for use in E-Vehicles, committed to GHG Emission Reduction activities and Industrial Waste Reduction.

I would like MCE to be a company recognized for the sales of innovative products which satisfies our customers, benefits people all over the world and improves the quality of their lives. In addition I would like MCE to be a company which is well known for excellent customer services and recognized as an energetic organization where employees, teamwork, compliance and the environment are highly valued.
