Mold In Coloured Instrument Panel — MIC
Mold-in-Color Technology
Mitsui Chemicals and partners provides to the industry a varity of materials such as scratch-Resistant, Mold-In-Color PP compounds for Automotive Instrument Panels. Over the last years, precoloured “Nonsoft” Instrument Panels substitutes not only in lower car segments many of their much more expensive painted PC/ABS counterparts. Cost reduction is the main driving force of PP based material nominations since molded-in-color designs do not require expensive secondary painting operations. Additional to lower cost benefits PP Compounds perform also better in:
- Emissions: No painting eliminates emissions of harmful VOC's.
- Non-painted plastic materials are much easier to recycle.
- NVH (Noise-Vibration-Harshness): Due to Polyolefin materials being inherently quiet and not prone to squeak or rattle, their use results in IP designs that generally require no expensive BSR countermeasures.

Injection Foaming Technology — I/F
- Injection molding technology for e.g. door panels with added foaming agent
- Weight savings: Approx. 25% in door panel applications

Molding Processability
3. Generation bumper material covering customer needs:
- High MFR
- Superior molding behaviour
- Short cycle time
- Weight reduction due to thinwall design
